Siliguri , June 25: The BJP&aposs defeat in the Lok Sabha elections had pushed back the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha&aposs movement for Gorkhaland, its National Spokesperson, Rajiv Pratap Rudy said here today.
“The BJP&aposs unexpected defeat in the Lok Sabha elections delayed our dream for Gorkhaland, but it cannot be denied,”he told a press conference at Pintail cillage near here.

The GJM has formed a study group to plan new strategy for the second phase of the movement which would begin very soon, he said. The BJP would raise its voice in both the Houses of Parliament for the Gorkhas and also organise meetings and seminars in support of the demand for a separate state, Rudy said.

Party MP from Darjeeling, Jaswant Singh was doing his best for development of Darjeeling hills and had taken the initiative for New Delhi to despatch a central disaster management team to assess the damages caused by Cyclone Aila, he said.

Singh also met Union Minister for Road Transport, Kamal Nath who had agreed to sanction funds for repairing national highways in the hills and accelerate Balasan Drinking Water Project, he added.
