Posted by Ramesh Khati on June 29, 2009

Kathmandu, June 29 – Nepali filmmaker Dil Bhusan Pathak’s documentary ‘Peace Song’ has been selected as the first runner-up in the World TV Awards for 2009. The film was selected in the category of a television documentary that contributes to conflict resolution.

The documentary, a “journey for peace through music”, seeks a common ground through various forms of Nepali music in the aftermath of the decade-long civil war.

The World TV Awards was set up by the Asia-Pacific Europe Partnership Committee in 2004 under the recommendation of the Asia-Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development (AIBD), and the themes of the TV documentaries selected alternate each year between “promoting religious understanding and tolerance” and “contributing to conflict resolution”.

‘Peace Song’ attempts to bring together people from all backgrounds including conflicting parties through music.

A Moroccan film, Never Again, by Robert Lamb was chosen as the best TV documentary.

The winners will be felicitated at a ceremony in Fiji from 20-23 July, said the filmmakers.
