Subba’s second day of strike

JALPAIGURI, 3 JULY: The hunger-strike programme of the Gorkha Liberation Organisation chief and prime accused in the GNLF chief, Mr Subash Ghisingh’s assassination attempt in 2001, Mr Chattre Subba and five co-accused continued for the second day today.
According to the Jalpaiguri jail authority, Mr Subba and the five co-accused refused liquid intake including water in the day. “The Jail authority urged them to withdraw the stir but they denied to demanding immediate release from jail. The jail doctors are monitoring their physical condition and there is not much to worry,” said a Jalpaiguri jail official on terms of anonymity.
The ADM (general), Jalpaiguri, Mr NG Hira said: “We are watching the situation but cannot release them as it is a judicial matter.” ;SNS
Trinamul warns forest minister
COOCH BEHAR, 3 JULY: The Trinamul Congress has decided to organise demonstrations against the state forest minister, Mr Ananta Roy in Cooch Behar. The Trinamul Congress district president, Mr Rabindra Nath Ghosh, said that their supporters would demonstrate against the minister at all places in Mathabhanga till construction of the much-awaited bridge on the Sutunga River and completion of other half-done projects.
Reacting to the Trinamul leadership’s threat, the district Forward Bloc secretary, Mr Udayan Guha said they would not remain silent spectators if the Trinamul continued with its unruly activities. “They would be paid back in the same coin and we would do the same to the Trinamul MLA of Dinhata,” Mr Guha said.
Trinamul Congress leader, Mr Ghosh made it clear that if the Forward Bloc committed any offense against their Dinhata MLA, they would intensify their movement against all the MLAs and ministers of the Forward Bloc and the CPI-M in Cooch Behar district.
