SILIGURI, 6 JULY: The North Bengal University published the results of the BA, BSc, Bcom (General) Part III Examination, 2009 (under 1+1+1 system) and Part II (General) Examination, 2009 (under 2+1 system) today.
The percentage of successful candidates for the BA, BSc and BCom stand at 89.32, 95.34 and 94.04 respectively.
Announcing the results, the NBU vice-chancellor, Prof Arunava Basumajumder said that the university had succeeded in publishing the final year examination results in the first week of July for the first time in the university’s 46 year existence.
“We are proud to have achieved this, keeping in view the interests of the students,” he said.
Commenting on the percentage of success, the vice-chancellor said that there had been a marginal decline of around 2.4 per cent.
“The examination review committee has called this decline ‘a normal phenomenon’ as compared to the results of the previous years,” he said.
“But the greater success among the girl students than their fellow boys is an encouraging phenomenon, more so as it has been recurring for the past few years. This portends well for the region when viewed against its predominantly rural background,” Prof Basumajumder said.
Expressing satisfaction over around 90 per cent success rate in the examinations, the vice-chancellor said that it confirmed the qualitative leap the university had achieved in the teaching-learning process. ‘We are confident that the trend would grow stronger,” he said.
Dwelling on the low percentage of success under the 2+1 system, the NBU vice-chancellor said that it had been conducted for the students who had failed in the earlier examinations.
