Posted by Ramesh Khati on August 14, 2009

Aizawl, Aug 13: Mizoram Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla today said the regular annual state budget would be presented in September.

Addressing a press conference here, Lal Thanhawla said while the Planning Commission has finalised the state plan at Rs 1,250 crore on August three, sectoral allocation of the state annual plan outlay for the current fiscal is not yet done.

He said New Land Use Policy (NLUP), the flagship programme of the Congress government would soon be implemented to uplift the rural poor while several programmes for the urban poor would also be taken up by the Urban Development and Poverty Alleviation department.

“At least 1,100 houses are being constructed around Aizawl city for the urban poor who are living in rented houses,” he said.

He expressed optimism on the proposed establishment of Central Agriculture University, Medical College and NIT in the state, saying that he received green signals from the UPA government on the establishment of the institutions.
