Election Commissioners to visit AP from August 18

Itanagar, Aug16 (PTI) The schedule for state assembly elections in Arunachal Pradesh is expected to be announced after the 3-day visit of the three election commisioners led by Chief Election Commissioner Naveen Chawala to the state from August 18.

Chief Electoral Officer Yeshi Tsering told newsmen that the full commission will meet deputy commissiners and SPs of the seven districts of the state and the chief secretary on their arrival here.

They will visit Tezu and Tawang in the next two days.

The state assembly election is expected to take place in October.

Assembly election in Arunachal this time is likely to be interesting with three national parties – ruling Congress, opposition BJP and NCP announcing their decision to fight for all the 60 seats.

Meanwhile, Trinamool Congress leader and central minister Mukul Roy is arriving here on August 23 to launch the party’s unit in Arunachal.
