Four more swine flu cases in Meghalaya

Shillong, Aug 16 (PTI) Four more persons have tested positive for swine flu in Meghalaya, taking the total number of cases in the state to five.

Three of the four patients whose throat swab sample have tested positive are suspected to have contracted the disease from Silvit Tongper, the first positive flu case in the state.

The three patients include a class VII student and friend of Tongper, the 17-year-old footballer who had tested positive for the flu on August 11.

The other two are a ward boy of Shillong Civil Hospital where the footballer is admitted and a boarder in Sports Authority of India (SAI) hostel where Tongper stayed after returning from England.

The fifth patient is a local woman who works in Pune, officials at Shillong Civil Hospital said, adding the test reports were received last night from NICED, Kolkata.
