ULFA militants kidnap manager, engineer of cement firm

Williamnagar (Meghalaya), Aug 21 (PTI) Suspected ULFA militants today kidnapped the manager and the chief engineer of a cement company in Meghalaya’s East Garo Hills district.

Manager Shambhu Dhanuka, 55, and chief engineer P K Hore, 58, of Virgo Cement Company located at Damas along the boundary with Goalpara district in Assam were coming out of the factory in their car when around five militants accosted them and took them away at gunpoint in the same vehicle at around 5 pm, police sources said.

East Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner Vijay Kumar told PTI that senior police officials led by Superintendent of Police S Nongtynger have rushed to the spot.

The army and the CRPF were also on the job to trace the militants and the abducted persons.

Kumar said no ransom demand has been received so far.
