KATHMANDU, Sept 8(e -Kantipur)– Lt. Gen. Chhatra Man Singh is going to assume the post of Chief of the Army Staffs of Nepal as the successor of the incumbent Army chief Rookmangud Katawal from Wednesday.

President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav is conducting the office bearing ceremony of Gurung amidst a special function in Sheetal Niwash on Wednesday afternoon. Gurung will be the first Army Chief to receive the insignia from the President. His predecessor Katawal had received the insignia of Army chief from the then Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala. The Cabinet of Aug.22 has decided to recommend the President Dr. Yadav to promote Gurung to the post of Army chief effective from Sept. 9. The three years tenure of outgoing Army Chief Katawal expired from Tuesday.
