DARJEELING(TOI): The chairmen and vice-chairmen of the Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Kurseong and Mirik municipalities resigned from their posts on Monday, following a Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) diktat.

Addressing a public meeting in Darjeeling on Sunday, GJM leader Bimal Gurung had asked the chairmen and vice-chairmen of all the Hills municipalities to resign as part of the non-cooperation movement against the state government. “We have resigned from our posts as directed by our party. It is our non-cooperation movement against the Bengal government,” said Pemba Tshering Ola, the former chairman of Darjeeling Municipality.
