Kathmandu, 29 September, (Asiantribune.com):Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal on Monday returned home after participating in the 64th UN General Assembly.

Talking to media persons upon arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, the prime minister said his participation in the UN General Assembly helped generate support and solidarity from the international community for peace and stability in war-torn Nepal.

A 23-member delegation led by the prime minister had left Nepal for US to participate in the General Assembly nine days ago. He termed the visit ‘successful’ and ‘fruitful.’

The prime minister said that the visit also helped strengthen ties with other countries as he met US President Barack Obama and other heads of states and governments during the visit

He said that the Australian government has agreed to provide US $190,000,000 to Nepal to reduce infant mortality and US government also announced to increase financial assistance to Nepal.

The prime minister listed UN’s request for increasing Nepali security forces in the UN peace keeping missions in different parts of the world and international community expressing commitments to support Himalayan countries including Nepal to fight the effects of climate change as other achievements of his visit.

Prime Minister Nepal informed media persons that US president Obama has shown immense interest to visit Himalayan country Nepal.
