KATHMANDU, Oct 9(MY REPUBLICA): The Unified Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) has directed its lawmakers not to visit any foreign country without permission from the party´s parliamentary bureau. A parliamentary party meeting of the party took the decision to this effect after several Maoist lawmakers were found to be frequently visiting foreign countries on the invitations from several embassies and NGOs.

“The parliamentarians will now be allowed to visit any country only after the approval of the bureau even if the invitation is personal,” said Maoist party Whip, Jaypuri Gharti. The Maoist has formed a parliamentary bureau comprising senior party leaders.

The party meeting also reiterated that it would continue to obstruct parliamentary proceedings until the “president´s move is corrected”. The Maoist lawmakers also decided to contribute Rs 1,000 each to the landslide and flood victims. The Maoist deputy parliamentary party leader Narayan Kaji Shrestha said the party had also instructed its lawmakers to visit their constituencies hit by landslides and floods.

The UCPN (Maoist) also appealed to national as well as international humanitarian organizations to provide support to the flood affected communities.
