Sikkim ‘Red’, Bengal and Orissa in semifinals

Gangtok, Oct 12 (PTI) Sikkim ‘Red’ defeated Assam 2-0 in their last Group A league match to reach the semifinals of first Pempa Dorji Memorial All India Women’s Football Championship at Paljor Stadium here.

Skipper Nima Lhamu Bhutia scored both goals for the local team.

In a Group B encounter, Orissa thrashed Sikkim ‘Green’ 6-0 to storm into the semifinals.

Striker Susmita Mallik scored a hattrick, while Thumki Muda, Sanjita Patra and Goma T Bara also chipped in with a goal each.

West Bengal was the other team to qualify for the last four stage from Group B behind Orissa.

Manipur had already qualified for the semifinals from Group A.

The first semifinal will be played tomorrow between Manipur and West Bengal, while Sikkim ‘Red’ will lock horns with Orissa in the other last four match a day after tomorrow.
