Talking at a press conference, Stanley Rosario welcomed Nepal’s star striker Anil Gurung to Shillong Lajong, saying that he is happy to have have him in his side. Anil Gurung signed a contract for 3 seasons and will be playing next match against Salgoacar SC on 2nd November.

Gurung has played U-19, U-21 and in the senior category for his country at various events. Stanley Rosario wished him luck and hoped that he does well for Lajong.

When asked about the I League compared to Nepal league, Anil mentioned that Nepal league is totally different from its Indian counterpart. He mentioned that the overall financial stability in India is better than Nepal.

Gurung was made an offer by the Shillong outfit, and he added that he will give his 100% in the match. However, it has still not been decided whether Anil will be playing in the first XI in the next game. Talking about the ground, Anil said that ground is different in comparison to Nepal’s turfs, but that he will prove himself and make Shillong proud to have him.

Gurung will wear jersey no.20 for Lajong, and used to play for the NRT Club in Nepal. He was also Nepal’s highest paid footballer.

Stanley Rosario when asked about yesterday’s game, said “We kept possession well, combined better, and dominated the game till about the 60th minute. We were superior than Mohun Bagan but the last part of the game killed us.”

Also emphasising on 2nd November match against Salgaocar, Stanley said, “Salgaocar is also a strong team and we have to work hard. The match will depend heavily on tactics, and we will need a good strategy.”

The Lajong coach was full of praise for the Lajong players, but cautioned that they needed some experience before being thrust into the national team.

“The players of Lajong are very talented, but need more time and practice to be in the National team”, he concluded.
