Posted by Ramesh Khati on November 13, 2009

Tawang (Arunachal Pradesh), Nov 12 (PTI ) Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama today offered prayers at the 500-year-old Tawang monastery on the last day of his four-day visit here.

He offered prayers at ‘Duthang’, the main prayer hall, at the monastery.

The spiritual leader later planted a sapling in Tawang House, the District Deputy Commissioner’s bungalow, where he had earlier taken rest in 1959 when he fled from Tibet.

The Dalai Lama laid the foundation of a hostel building at the ‘Manjushree Vidyapeeth’, a home for destitute children.

He then left for Dirang where he will attend a prayer meeting before leaving for Bomdila from where he flies back to Itanagar tomorrow.
